CT scan is computerized tomography scan which combines x ray images of a body part, taken from different angles and by computer produces cross sectional images. CT scan gives a more detailed image of body parts as compared to plain x rays. By giving contrast, scan images become more detailed by differentiating minute structures. It is well suited to diagnose those with internal injuries following trauma, for staging in some cancers as well as plan management options accordingly. Though brief exposure to radiation is present, it doesn't cause long term harm.
